Claim: Statistics Sierra Leone has opened recruitment for the 2025 National Census

Verdict: FALSE

Context: A widely shared message on social media, particularly WhatsApp, claims that Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL) has launched a recruitment process for the 2025 national census. The message includes a link purportedly leading to an application portal for interested individuals. It states that Stats SL is hiring personnel to support data collection, enumeration, and statistical analysis for the upcoming census.

Evidence: Sierra Check investigated the claim, we reached out to Sahr James Banga, National Vice President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) and SLAJ's representative at the Statistics Sierra Leone Council. Banga confirmed that the circulating recruitment message is false.

Additionally, he informed Sierra Check that the Statistician-General of Statistics Sierra Leone also dismissed the claim, stating that the institution has not issued any recruitment notice. He emphasized that Stats SL communicates official announcements via its verified platforms and not through unauthorized links circulated on social media.

Conclusion: The claim that Statistics Sierra Leone has opened recruitment for the 2025 census is false. There is no official recruitment drive ongoing by Statistics SL. The provided link (https://offernoww.github.io/Statistics-recruitment.sl) is fraudulent.
